Interruptions in our classroom.

Messages:
We could leave a sign on the door saying, Leave messages on the doormat. We would pick them up when we have to go to our desks, come to the mat or when Miss Campbell says we are aloud to pick them up. If it is urgent they can pass the message on to the person in front of them and they can pass it to the teacher.

Intercom:
Have a volume switch for the intercom so we can mute it when the message doesn't apply to us.

Telephone:
We can have the telephone person sit next to the phone, and if the person wants Miss Campbell, the telephone person can say "Please call back in ___ minutes, Miss Campbell is teaching right now."

Social Experiment.

Clarify: Social Experiment.
Well the word social means to hangout with other people. I know this because when I'm on my laptop at home and there are guests over, my Mum says, "Come into the lounge and be social." The word experiment means to test things out to see if they work. I know this because last year for science fair I did an experiment. I tested the juice of lemons and oranges and compared them. So saying this I think this will be an experiment about being social and hanging out with friends or random people. I think the person doing this experiment will take a survey of people in their social life.

Aim:
To find out peoples reaction when given a bad comment or a good comment anonymously.√

Hypothesis:
I think that people will not just ignore bad comments but actually listen to the good comments and think about it.
Equipment:
- Speaker
- Phone
Method:
1. Set up a speaker on the side of a busy street.
2. Every time someone walks past give a bad or good comment (While recording their reactions).
3. After half and hour stop and think about their reactions.
Results: (make these up)
Most people receiving bad comments just walked past and ignored it but people receiving good comments stood there for a little bit and thought that was really nice even though it was anonymous.
Conclusion: I've learned that people really care about comments, even if they are anonymous. If they got a good compliment they feel good.

Picture Description.

Imagine this is you.Describe this scene. Describe
- what you smell
- what you hear
- what you see
- how you feel

I smell the cold bitter air, wrapping around my face. I hear the sound of the wind, roaring against the mountain. In front of me I see my tent, pic and the beautiful mountain in front of me with lots of slopes and a rocky cliff to the side. I feel my face freezing off but I don’t care because my own relief by making it up here beats that. I feel the fresh snow beneath me. The beautiful, white, soft snow. So comfortable to lie in.

How to Video.

RATING
0 - 3

0 = not done
3 = extremely well done

- Do I have a title slide? 3-3
- Do I have subtitles for the steps? 2-3
- How well does the voiceover timing match the photos? 2-3
- How well do the photos match the script? 2-3
- Are the photos well focused? 3-3
- Is the audio clear? 2-3

Reflection
A strength was that there was no fuzzy audio and You can hear me and Tyler clearly.
A problem we overcame was that our photos didn't match the script so on the last day to take new photos.
Our best shot was Tyler, Hamish and I playing soccer because it is a clear photo of all three of us and it clearly shows me joining in Hamish and Tyler's game.
A piece of advice I would give to next year’s class making How to Videos is make sure that you get a good set of photos that match the script really well. Try and get more then two photos for each step as well.

Science Behind Glow Sticks.

What I think now (before we start)
The glow sticks have chemicals inside that light up when snapped.

What I think now (after hearing others’ ideas)
There is a glass canister inside that when you snap the glow stick it releases a chemical that lights up the liquid inside the glow stick.

What I think now (after seeing Miss C cut open the tube)
The same as What I think now (after hearing others' ideas)

What I think now (after researching)
In the glow sticks plastic casing there is phenyl oxalate ester and fluorescent dye solution. In the fragile glass vial on the inside there is a hydrogen peroxide solution. When you snap a glow stick, the glass vile breaks and the phenyl oxalate ester and fluorescent dye solution mixes with the hydrogen peroxide solution and emits a glow!

Synthesis is
A process from prior knowledge to new knowledge.
